Maui Jim is an American brand that originated in Lahaina, Hawaii in the 1980’s. They started out very small, with a number of individuals selling home-made sunglasses to tourists on the Hawaiian beaches through the 1980’s. As they gradually became more and more popular they were able to take the trip over the pacific to California where they instantly became a huge hit.

Today they have a large repertoire of different sunglasses with hundreds of different shapes and styles from their original 80’s look to aviators and beyond.
Maui Jim sunglasses feature polarised lenses with hi-friction rubber pads to prevent the frame from slipping on the face. Many of the frames also have a bi-gradient mirror front coating at the top and bottom of each lens to reflect light from above and below. Each lens has a hydrophobic, oleophobic and scratch resistant coating to aid better transmission of light through the lens. This enables a more comfortable, reflection free vision for the wearer.

Maui Jim isn’t a hugely recognised name in the UK but here at Bawtry Eye Academy we are helping get their name on the map. If you are a keen sportsman then Maui Jim are the perfect choice for you. Come into our opticians in Bawtry and try out these lenses for yourself to fully appreciate how fantastic they are.

image of Ronit Furst

Each one of the Ronit Furst frames are hand painted. This is what gives them the freedom to produce almost every pattern and colour combination that we (or rather Ronit) can imagine. When you look closely you can actually see the paintbrush strokes and the texture of the paint, just like a painting on canvas. After the painting is done the frames undergo a special coating procedure, which will give it it’s finished look – crystal shiny or sandy matt – and which also protects the painting from dirt and other unwanted effects.

The frames are designed to look different from every angle, with fine detail and tiny embellishments, graduated colour schemes and asymmetric designs. The ethos of the range is to create quirky ,individual styles that capture the wearer’s personality and, with so many palettes and shapes available, the hardest part for many customers is limiting themselves to just on pair of Ronit Furst eyeglasses.

To see these fantastic frames why not call into our Opticians in Bawtry or go on our on-line shop.
